Thoroughly annoyed

Well a lot has happened in August, but I haven't been able to post about it since Blogger won't let me upload pictures! So, in a perfect world I would have done about 5 posts by now complete with pictures. So I guess I will just update everyone as to what's been happening in August, in a boring post without pictures!

We went to Dallas to visit some friends of ours mid August. The kids had a great time, as usual, playing with their friends that they miss because they've moved away. We got to go to their neighborhood pool, which was beach entry, so the kids loved that of course.

Then we celebrated Nick's 29th birthday, and Sophie's 4th birthday! Since Nick and Sophie's birthdays are 5 days apart, we usually end up celebrating them together. It wasn't planned that way, but with Sophie not wanting to be born in October like she was supposed to be, we have no choice! We had a girly birthday party for Sophie, with all of her girlfriends. They got their nails done and got to play dress up and walk down a runway. Then we went to a bakery for cupcakes and presents. She had a great time, and loved being with her girls! That night we had a family birthday party at BJ's Brewery, for some good food, then back to my aunt's house for cake and presents! It was a crazy but fun day.

Then 2 days after all the birthday celebrating, Sophie started preschool! She goes 3 days a week from 9:30-2:00pm. She has only gone 1 day so far, but she walked right into the room without even saying bye to Nick and I! She has been independent since birth, so I knew she would never have a problem leaving me to start school. It's pretty bittersweet, I miss her but I know she's having a lot more fun at school than she would be having at home, and learning a lot.

On top of all that, Sophie also started dance class again. She is taking at the same place she took dance last year, just with a new teacher. Her teacher's name is Miss Carly, so she asks where Chad is, of course! There is one girl in her class that was in there last year, so that's fun. She is already talking about a dance recital, so I know she will enjoy this year of dance.

August has pretty much flown by, so I look forward to getting into a routine and settling down a bit for September! I promise pictures will come as soon as Blogger decides to cooperate!

Too Much Food

When the kids were little, you know, when you go anywhere you pack bottles and jars of baby food. These days, we have been eating lunch at the pool pretty much everyday, and I just realized how much work and preparation there is to pack a picnic lunch for us! I know I will be doing this everyday once Sophie starts school, but since I haven't had to do it yet, it really is a lot of work! Especially since my kids are bottomless pits!

Too Cute!

It's pretty rare that I catch Sophie and Brody hugging each other. Let's face it, I spend most of my time watching them duke it out with each other over toys, books, shoes.....anything they can fight over, they will. But a few days ago it was raining, yes I'm sure you remember that ONE day! And both the kids were scared of the thunder, so they wanted me to open the blinds so they could "see the thunder." I explained that you couldn't see the thunder, but they insisted. So, they were looking out the window, and I guess Sophie decided to put on a brave face for her Bro-Bro. I heard her say "Don't worry Brody, I will protect you from the thunder." Too cute, and I luckily caught this picture!

New Lovey

When Brody was born, Nick's sister made him a lovey. Since then I have made him more loveys the exact same small size, that way I can wash them without a freak out moment! I decided, since he's now in a big boy bed and LOVES blankets, that I should make him a big lovey. So, the other day I did, and he has fallen in love all over again! Here are some pictures of Brody with his beloved lovey.

The Many Faces of Bro-Bro

Big Helper

Brody has started eating yogurt or applesauce and wanting someone to "help" him. I guess he likes to revert back to being a baby every once in a while! So I was busy unloading the dishwasher, and decided to let Sophie help him. She enjoyed it and so did he. She is such a big helper these days!

Brody was sooo excited that Sophie was going to help him!

Yummmmm!

Dance Recital

Well, we made it through Sophie's first year of dance! At first I didn't even think she liked it, but after seeing her at the recital I know she LOVES dance. I have even asked her if she'd want to try gymnastics in the fall, but she told me she wanted to do dance again. I think I will let her try out a gymnastics class this summer, just to make sure it's what she wants. Looking forward to having our Saturdays off now!

Her tap dance costume, I think it was some Hilary Duff song!

Her ballet dance to "somewhere over the rainbow"

This is the link to Sophie's tap dance she did for her recital.

This is the link for Sophie's ballet dance she did, excuse Nick, the cameraman....he had Brody on his lap so it's a bit shaky!

Some summer projects

One of the projects we are attempting is to plant some flowers and watch them grow. We got this kit at Target, so we will see if it works......I don't have much of a green thumb.

A friend of mine gave me a recipe for homemade laundry detergent, which I think is brilliant since I am always trying to make my own stuff! It takes about $5 of stuff to make 2 of these, which is 10 gallons of detergent.

Splashpad

We started off the summer by going to the La Centerra splashpad. The kids always love going there!

New House

We finally moved into the new house in March. Here are some pictures of the rooms so far, with the exception of the playroom,,,because it's pretty messy, and the office..because that's where all the unpacked stuff is sitting right now! There also isn't a picture of Brody's room because he was in between beds and we are still waiting for the chest we ordered for his room. It's coming along, but still a work in progress.

Giraffe snack

When we went to the zoo in April we happened to be looking at the giraffes when it was snack time. So they were letting people pay, giving us huge lettuce leaves then letting us go up on a platform to hand feed the giraffes! The kids thought it was great and shocking at the same time, because the giraffe wasn't a bit shy about taking the lettuce from you, whether you had your hand out or not. I would definitely suggest you do this when you go to the zoo, they usually have their snack times posted outside their fence.

The sun was in Sophie's eyes in this picture

Strike!

Forgive me for taking soooo long between posts. It's been over a month since I've done a post, but it was not my fault. Blogger as usual was acting up and wouldn't post ANY of my pictures, so I just decided to wait it out.
I took the kids bowling with some friends back in May. They loved it of course! Brody loved the bowling ball coming out of the machine, more than actually bowling. But Sophie was getting strikes and was bowling for her friends that were getting tired of bowling. We have been bowling a couple of times since then and the kids just have sooo much fun. I think it's a great activity to do during this crazy hot summer.

Ooooh the anticipation of the bowling ball coming out of the machine!!!

2 already!?!

I cannot believe that my little boy is 2 already! It feels funny with Brody turning 2, because by the time Sophie turned 2 she already had a little brother! So it's nice to just enjoy Brody getting older and turning 2, without anything being chaotic. Brody enjoyed his birthday, on Wednesday. I made him birthday pancakes that said "2" with whip cream on top. Then we headed to the yogurt place with some friends to play and eat ice cream. After nap time, I let him open a present from my aunt, who won't be able to attend Brody's family party on Saturday. He got a tool bench, and plays with it all day! We all had a fun day, and I cannot believe my little baby is pretty much, an official toddler.

At dinnertime, I stuck a candle in his chicken nugget! Thought I'd let him practice blowing out a candle so he'd be a pro at his party.

Let the swimming begin!

We have started swimming already this season, especially since my aunt has heated up her pool for the kids. Brody has finished his swim lessons, so I was eager to see how swimming in a big pool with both kids would be this year! It's a little crazy because they are both fish, and just jump off steps and start swimming..whether anyone is there to catch them or not! But it has been a lot of fun so far. Pictures to come...having problems uploading them today.

New Discoveries

There have been a lot of changes happening since we moved into our new house. All good and fun new adventures! Sophie learned to roll her tongue, she's so proud!
Brody has decided he likes to be independent and go on the potty. It's not a constant thing, but he does actually "go" on the potty!

We hung the kid's swing on our new tree in the backyard, and they love to take turns pushing each other.

Sophie was being nice to Brody this afternoon!

Fun With Daddy

While I was recovering from my gum graft surgery, Nick took the kids out to the park to play. They have sooo much fun on the swings, especially now that Sophie can swing herself on her belly. They could swing all day!

Elmo Love

Ever since Christmas pretty much, Brody has had a love for Elmo. Then when we went to Sesame Street Live in February and bought Brody his own stuffed Elmo, they've been inseparable!

Old Pictures

I was going through some REALLY old pictures today that I found on my computer. I love going through old pictures of the kids, but it gets sad too. They grow up so fast. It doesn't feel like this was 2 1/2 years ago. Sophie was a year old. She still makes that same face now! I LOVE this picture of Sophie! No idea why she looked sooo sad, but I love the paci phase and everything!
I think this picture is soooo funny, because Brody looks so different than he does now! His big old bald head and skinny arms. He was about 4 weeks old here, and Sophie was 20 months old.

New clothes

Sophie's Easter outfit that I got for her this year. She loves it! Sophie playing dress up, as she does every day. She makes the craziest outfits!

We got Brody new cowboy boots for the Rodeo and for Rodeo Sunday at church.
