Potty Training

We decided to bite the bullet and get Sophie potty trained this past weekend. I followed a book, step by step, that a friend suggested (Sara Long); and it was wonderful! The weekend started off crazy because we had to stay in the house and not go anywhere, plus Sophie had to potty every 5 minutes! I felt like I had a stomach virus, having to run to the bathroom with her every 5 minutes. But each day got better, and now I swear she goes hours without having to go....sometimes I worry. Surprisingly enough, she even started waking up dry after the 2nd night of potty training. We are extremely proud of her, and it makes a world of difference when I only have to change 1 little one's diaper, instead of 2. I even decided, after talking to friends, that I would stash a little potty in the back of my car...for on the road stops. So...that leads me to:

Times I wish Sophie was still in diapers-

1. waiting in the drive thru line at Walgreens (in the rain/snow) and Sophie has to go potty, so we open the back and she sits on her potty...with the rain coming in, AND the person in line behind us staring. I just didn't make eye contact!

2. when we are driving down the grand parkway, in Katy, where there's no shoulder to pull over on, and even when you do exit...the lights are VERY long!

3. when Brody is screaming in the car, so the last thing I want to do is pull over to let her go potty

4. when Sophie has an accident on our favorite couch (that isn't scotch guarded yet!)

5. when I'm too busy wiping Sophie to empty her potty fast enough, so Brody (or Snoopy, the dog) decides it would be fun to play in!

6. when we're at the Dr. office (not the cleanest bathrooms) and Sophie has decided for the 3rd time in 5 minutes that she has to go potty

Ah, the joys of potty training! I'm glad we did it, but it does remind me that she's growing up to be a big girl....and sometimes that's sad.

Wild Bath Time

Bath time has now become a lot like seeing Shamu at Seaworld, and sitting in the "Splash Zone." Brody gets very excited about his bath and splashes like crazy, this video is of him after he had calmed down. I was trying to get my camera in time. Usually by the end of the bath time everyone is soaked including the floor! He does have a great time though.

Lunch Time

I have recently figured out how to use the video on my camera....not that it's the best camera, but video is fun to use these days!

Meal times are always crazy but fun these days because Sophie does things to make Brody laugh, so he stops eating and just watches her and laughs. So, on this day she had decided that she wanted to cheer for everything....no idea where she even got that from since she usually imitates me, but I obviously don't go around saying "HOORAY" after everything! Brody and Sophie both thought it was funny though.

Boy Clothes

After having a baby girl and buying her all pink clothes, and pretty much everything out there for girls is cute! I always complain, complain, complain, about how unimpressed I am with boys clothes out there. It's just different going from shopping for a girl, to then shopping for a boy. But, the other day I went to Target to find a shirt for Brody to wear to a Valentine's Day party, because of course I already had Sophie's outfit. I found tons of cute shirts for boys, and now i figured that if I can't find any cute boy clothes.....I at least want to find shirts with cute sayings on them! This was Brody's V-Day shirt I picked out.

Don't ask me why he's making this funny face, lately he's always blowing air out of his mouth like he's whistling, but he was trying to do that AND smile. Looks like he got collagen in his lips!

Children's Museum

Brody's occupational therapist gave us 4 free tickets to the Children's Museum in December, so it was a great chance to take the kids. Good thing Nick was off for Christmas, because taking two kids to the Ch. Museum gets a little crazy, especially when you venture out of the "Tot Spot!" I always have had fun taking Sophie, ever since she was little, and this time we got to see how much Brody liked it too. Okay, so we sat him in front of a mirror, and he never moved from that spot! But I'm sure he must have been having fun then!

This would be where he sat for way over an hour!
Sophie loves that little house with a kitchen in it!

And the tunnel of course

Brody looking up at daddy...still sitting in the same spot!

Father/Daughter Dance

Nick and Sophie went to the Father/Daughter dance this weekend and had a ball! Here are some cute pictures he got of her dancing and having fun. It's very cute, ever since that night, she continues to say that she's going to "dance with daddy tonight." So, I always have to tell her, "That was the other night..I don't think we're dancin with daddy tonight."

Showing off some of her moves
More dance moves

On the carriage ride with Pops and Kenzie, I guess it was a bit chilly!

What a great picture Nick caught of her!

Tu-Tu

A little while ago I was thinking that I might start making tu-tu's and selling them, but I never got my act together. But this Friday, Sophie has a father-daughter dance at our church, so I was trying to find a cute outfit for her to wear then thought....I have 2 days, why not just make her a tu-tu to wear with a cute outfit! Plus, she's been asking to wear her X-mas tu tu out everyday, but it doesn't match her clothes usually, so I thought a dark pink on light pink would match most of her clothes. It was fairly easy, only took me 1 night, and turned out very cute...I even added some knots to this tu tu, to add some sass. I will have Nick take more pictures of Sophie actually wearing it on Friday night.

My Little T.V. Watchers

So, Sophie has never really watched TV, and that's been a blessing and a curse for 2 1/2 years now. She will only watch it when she's exhausted....like she has been the past few days because she hasn't been sleeping well at night, and of course there are NO naps during the day! So, the other day I put on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (the only thing I can get her to watch) and I caught her cuddled up on the couch with a Barbie. Then I looked over at Brody, who's normally trying to pull up on anything and everything (including things that fall over on him), and I notice that he too is just mesmerized by Mickey Mouse! So, if nothing else, atleast I have 2 Mickey lovers in the house.

I think he was trying to get toys out of the basket....but was totally sidetracked by Mickey!
