Man On A Mission
Here are pictures to go with the last blog entry about Brody crawling. He's very excited about getting toys now...but he's still very cautious and slow, he'll crawl a few feet, then sit back on his bottom to rest and decide if he really wants the toy that bad. It's perfect, because he's technically crawling....but not fast enough that I have to watch him yet! It's the best of both worlds.
Follow-Up
I guess I should post a follow up for all of you who were wondering how Brody's eye procedure went. At the last minute Nick decided to go, which ended up being perfect because they didn't want Sophie in the room, so I courageously decided to take her out to the waiting room to play! I would have felt bad if Nick wasn't in the room with Brody, and instead he was by himself with just a nurse for the procedure. Plus it involved needles, which I didn't know about...nor can I deal with. We heard Brody crying a little, from the waiting room, but only for about 2 minutes. The Dr. said the procedure went VERY well and that he actually didn't cry much, compared to other babies. She also said that since it went so well and it was quite easy, that if the duct got clogged again, she would do the procedure over again one more time before we have to head to the hospital to have that procedure done. Luckily everything seems fine since he's had it done, no tearing in his eye anymore, and no blocked duct so far. We just have to pray that it stays that way! Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

New Things
Sorry there are no pictures to go with this blog entry! I feel like, ever since the holidays, I have been horrible at taking any pictures.
Well, some new things have been going on with Brody the past few days. He is just a few days shy of being 9 months old...can you believe it?? The past few days he has been rocking on his hands and knees, but not moving anywhere yet...which is a VERY good thing actually. Also, today I was outside with the kids, and Sophie thought Brody needed some leaves to eat. Of course, shes always doing "pretend play" with him, but he doesn't get it! I told her not to feed him leaves, and she responded with "They're not leaves mommy, they're cookies." So I had no come back for that! But as I was reaching in his mouth to fish out the leaves (cookies), I felt his first tooth on the bottom. I was excited, but I thought, how odd it was that I didn't notice any signs. Hopefully that means that future teeth coming in won't give him any problems, as Sophie was never bothered by them either. Of course, now I am annoyed at my pediatrician because she's been telling me for the past few weeks that he's not teething and that NO teeth are coming in.
Also, on another note, Brody will be seeing his pediatric opthamologist Monday to get his blocked tear duct flushed out. It's an in-office procedure, and we'll see how it goes. It has a 70% chance of working and I hope it does, because the next step is to go into the hospital and have an IV put in so that Brody can get a tube placed in his tear duct to keep it permanently un-clogged. And honestly after I saw Sophie being "put under" for her surgery when she was 18 months old, I never want to see that done to a child again....especially since Brody is still so young! Wish us luck!

Must be a boy thing
So, I remember very clearly when our precious little girl got her first bruise. We took a picture and felt very bad that we didn't break her fall somehow! Sophie was about 13 or 14 months old when she got her first real "boo-boo."
Now, sadly, Brody already got his first bonk to the head at 7 months..and seems to consistently get a bruise every week or so! I am beginning to think that I am not paying enough attention to my poor second child! I swear everytime I turn my back on him, he's trying to crawl, but ends up in a face plant (usually on our wood floor.) But then I started to think, I don't know much about boys, so maybe we could say that it's just a boy thing, and they are rough and get a lot of bruises at an early age. Atleast that's how I justify it!

Still a happy little boy with 4 bruises on his forehead! Maybe after a few more he will learn how to really crawl!
What a sad pitiful face, it's as if I told him to look sad!

House on the market
Well, we have put our house on the market....it has been on the market before, but it wasn't selling. So, this weekend was the first weekend it was on the market and I wasn't quite prepared for it! We kept getting call after call that people wanted to show the house, so the weekend was very good and bad. Last time we put the house on the market we just had Sophie, so it wasn't such a big deal to leave the house. With two kids, it's a different story! But hopefully it'll sell fast so that we don't have to keep doing this. It's messing up my schedule, and anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE my schedule!
On another note, cute.....but not for long, Sophie has been having a teenager attitude these days. I usually tell her things like "I need you to pick up your toys." Or, "I want you to put your shoes on." And to that, she proceeds to tell me "I NEED to not pick up my toys!" Or, "I DON'T want to put my shoes on!" So, that stage is great fun. Also, pretty soon we will be trying to potty train Sophie using this book I got from a friend who did it with her son, called "3 day potty training." I will let everyone know how it goes! Probably not one more thing I need to add to my plate, along with packing and moving, and still having a little one...that seems to be more and more mobile everyday. I hope to survive it all!

What a fun age
I was realizing today how nice it is to be able to leave 2 kids in the living room to play while I go do my make up or get dressed for the day. They are at the age now where they can play with the same things and Sophie actually shares with Brody. I ask her why she shares with Brody and she says "Because he's a baby!" I know there will come a day when Brody won't want to share with Sophie and there will be fighting, so I figured I should appreciate this time I have right now. The past few days I have gotten some good pictures with them both playing in the living room and sharing toys....too cute! Sophie will even bring Brody a toy if he's fussing for it and can't get to it. I know this phase won't last, since I have heard from my friends already that have 2 and they do a lot of fighting.
Brody is soooo good at sitting up now! Now he just gets frustrated when he can't move to get to the toys!
Sophie was sooo proud that she got tons of Brody's toys and pu them all within his reach.

Both kiddos playing with their new house that Grampy got them. Sophie tries to have me knock on the door so she can tell me to "come in mom," then I have to let her down and tell her that I obviously cannot fit through that hole! Brody just loves to watch Sophie play, or he chews on the doorknob......boys!
Christmas
We had a great Christmas with both sides of the family this year.....busy, but great! I would have more pictures, but Nick has yet to load any of the oictures from his camera onto our computer. So, maybe later. Sophie got a kitchen from Santa, so she's been busy making cookies, pancakes, and frappachino's (I guess she sees mommy drinking them too much!) Brody got a lot of clothes ans toys, which sadly he has only been interested in Sophie's "big kid" toys. He gets aggrivated though because he sits up, but can really move fast enough to get to her toys to play with them. Sophie loves all of her toys, but she got this pillow thing for her bed, from her Grampy. Since she doesn't sleep with a pillow, I didn't actually think she would use this as a pillow. But it has been in her bed ever since and she sleeps on it as a pillow everynight!Sophie also got quite a few tutu's to add to her dress up collection, and she decided to find a different way to wear them instead of around her waist. I guess this is what happens when you're stuck inside for a few days in a row!
